MCX Escape Game

Last week I was invited to take part in the first MCX Escape Game. We all joined onto a zoom meeting where the organiser Sebastian Lecocq explained the premise of the game:

Step 0

The game was based on a spy theme with some help from your “operator” to guide you through the mission tasks.

Step 1

Every player logged onto a Nutanix desktop that had access to a Nutanix POC environment.

Step 2

Each task was described by the “operator” and involved tasks that ranged from easy to more difficult as each task is completed. For example you needed to create a new account that has the admin role within the cluster so that you can admin your way through the environment. Each task had small clues about where to find the correct screen or option. After you had completed the task the operator would verify the task and if incorrect give you a clue as to what you may have done wrong or if you’ve missed any options, etc.

Step 3

There was also a link to a Nutanix POC cluster that you would administrate to infiltrate the enemy’s system:

Step 5

The game took about an hour and half to complete all tasks (I did get stuck on one task for quite awhile) and I was amazed that I had managed to do some taks that I had never done before in Nutanix AHV just from the ease of the interface. It just goes to show how easy Nutanix’s UI really is to use!

Step 6

Each player was timed to complete the mission and I managed to come second\third (Marco was officially going to be second but had to go due to work commitments) but I have still won a mystery prize.

Step 7

This was really great fun and good test of showcasing how easy Nutanix’s AHV really is to administrate and deploy. I believe the idea is to get prospect customers to go through the game to see for themselves. It was also really good to see some of the other MCX experts that I met at .NEXT in Chicago and have a quick catchup. Many thanks to Sebastian Lecocq and Carmin Pepin for organising.
