Last week I attended the Nutanix London Tech Day which was hosted at London’s Southbank. Here’s what I got up to:

The day started with lunch, refreshments, catching up\networking and a few visits to sponsor stalls.

We were then ushered into one of the meeting rooms for the introduction session. We were initially welcomed to the event by James Sturrock:

Then Darren Woolard (Field CTO, Nutanix) managed to fit a recap on .Next Chicago into just 20 mins!

Then the tech sessions started. I decided to stay for the Maximising Resilience Through Cloud DR with Darren McDonagh (Nutanix) Who ran through disaster recovery using Multicolour Snapshot Technology (MST) and how they can replicate workloads to cost effective cloud object storage. He also ran through integrating Nuatnix Cloud Clusters (NC2) with dynamic pilot light to reduce infrastructure costs.

There’s was a short coffee break and then I attended a session titled Introduction to the Nutanix Enterprise AI Platform by Simon Todd (Nutanix) and Steve McElfratick (Nutanix). This was an overview of Nutanix’s Enterprise AI platform and how it simplifies the deployment of generative AI workloads in both on prep and cloud datacenters. They also explained about how the platform runs large language models (LLMs) with security, data privacy and seamless integration. Having done a bootcamp on the AI Platform with Simon before I can really understand how simple the platform is to deploy generative AI. 

The final session involved two customer Nutanix journeys from Nicole Reader (The Bunker) and Nick Burnett (Gatwick Airport). Both shared their journeys from other platforms to the Nutanix platform. They spoke about the challenges faced, their migration strategies and the benefits achieved.

After this there were beers and a further chance to network. It was a good afternoon (was only half a day and not a full day really) and it was good catching up with peers and some interesting sessions. Just went far too quickly!
